Quick Reference for Post Applied Herbicide Families

Keeping track of post-emerge herbicide families can get a little tricky.  Even veterans to the industry have a hard time remembering if certain chemistries hit a broad or more specific range of weed species.

Burrus has four charts that may help growers decipher how broad and how narrow broadleaf and grass weed control is for various herbicide families.  While these references do not substitute for a review of the label, they may serve as a useful quick reference.  The included charts provide information on more common broadleaf and grass control families in corn and beans.

Burrus would also encourage growers to access university weed management resources in addition to the label.  Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio produce an excellent quick reference (available at http://agcrops.osu.edu/specialists/weeds/specialist-links/2010%20Weed%20Control%20Guide.pdf) as does the University of Missouri (available at http://weedscience.missouri.edu/publications/m00171.pdf).
